Always attracted to meditative practices, Altaf’s spiritual quest began at 18 when a friend gave him a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahamsa Yogananda. After reading the book, a deep desire arose to practise Kriya Yoga and he signed up for lessons from Yogoda Satsang Society of India and was initiated into Kriya Yoga in 1998, at the age of 19.
He migrated to Australia in 2004 and has been working in the IT Industry since then.
A series of inner experiences in 2009 made him look for answers and thus a search began for a living Guru in Kriya Yoga tradition. He found Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath through web search and hamsayogi channel on youtube.
He was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Yogiraj in 2010 at the Siddhanath Forest Ashram in Pune. While initiating into Nabhi Kriya, Yogiraj transmitted so much spiritual energy into him that he was in constant peace and bliss for days. After repeatedly attending Yogiraj’s retreats and experiencing the graces of Shaktipat (Energy Transmissions), Pranapat (Breathing Through your breath) and Shivapat (No mind state of zero thoughts), there was a satisfaction and knowing that finally a living guru has been found.
Yogiraj has initiated him as a Hamsacharya and asked him to teach Kriya Yoga in Australia. “Teach Babaji’s Kriya Yoga and spread the message of love”, said the beloved Satguru. “You will be teaching, but it is my promise, that I will help each sincere practitioner of Kriya Yoga. I might be anywhere in the world, but if you call me sincerely, I will breathe through you and you will feel my transmissions”. These words of master has been felt during his regular Kriya Yoga practice and through the wonderful stories of healing and spiritual transmissions felt by students around Australia.
He conducts regular workshops in Sydney.
